Position Descriptions

Expo - Greeters

As Expo Greeters, you will be available at the Sports Expo grounds to direct the athletes as needed, and assist our TTF staff and other volunteers with various tasks as they may come up. This may include registrations, body marking, be available at the race briefing meetings to direct athletes, assist by the water during the Swim Course Familiarization, etc.

We encourage you to be flexible to take on any task at hand, be outgoing and friendly.

Prior triathlon knowledge is not required.

Registration / Race Kit Pickup

You will be assisting our TTF staff with Race Registration and Race Kit pick-up. This will include preparing and handing-out race kit packages, checking-in athletes and directing athletes as needed.

The race kit pick-up is an exciting time for our athletes and sets the tone for their race weekend. We are looking for outgoing and friendly volunteers.

Prior triathlon knowledge is not required.

Transition Zone, Race Set-up

We are looking for strong, hard working volunteers to assist our TTF staff with the transition zone (and general race) setup. This includes setting up the fences, the bike racks, signage and gates, etc.

Prior triathlon knowledge is not required.

Transition Zone & Bike Check-In

You will be assisting in the transition zone area on race day morning. This includes directing and assisting athletes to enter the transition zone with their bikes in an efficient manner, handing out timing-chips to the athletes and assist with body marking of our athletes as needed.

For our athletes, this can be a stressful time prior to their races. We are looking for friendly volunteers, who can keep others calm during stressful times and be firm giving directions.

Prior triathlon knowledge is helpful, but not required.

Transition Zone & Bike Check-Out

You will be assisting in the transition zone area on race day after the race. You will be part of our trusted Bike Check-Out team to ensure that athletes leave the transition area with their own bike. You will be responsible for going over certain security measures to ensure that each bike leaves the transition area with its rightful owner.

This is an extremely important role and we are looking for friendly volunteers, who are detail-oriented and can be firm giving directions.

Prior triathlon knowledge is helpful, but not required.

Body Marking / Timing Chips

You will be marking the athletes' bodies with their race number and age, as well as assisting the timing chip/tracking personnel with handing out timing chips to the athletes.

We encourage you to be flexible to take on any task at hand, be outgoing and friendly.

Prior triathlon knowledge is not required.

Swim Exit & Swim to Transition Laneway

You will be helping athletes exit the water, as well as assisting race officials and safety personnel, as needed.

You will be assisting athletes getting from Swim Exit to the Transition Zone. This includes directing athletes vocally, a process made much easier with the aid of signs, pylons and fencing (which will be placed by operational staff before the race begins). You may also be tasked with ensuring that spectators cross in designated places in an orderly fashion.

Prior triathlon knowledge is not required.

Bike Mount / Dismount Line

You will be assisting TTF staff at the "Bike Mount / Dismount Line". Athletes are required to mount their bike after this line when starting the bike portion of their race, and dismount their bikes before crossing this line when returning from the bike course. You will be assisting TTF staff to enforce this rule (all athletes will be briefed on this).

We are looking for friendly and outgoing volunteers, who can be firm giving directions.

Prior triathlon knowledge is not required.

Bike Course Marshall

As the Bike Course Marshall, you will be assisting the Bike Course Director in the smooth operation and maintenance of the bike course during the race to ensure the safety of the athletes. This position will work closely with the Bike Course Director to ensure that all areas that need directional pointers are covered on race day, as well as that “pinch point” areas are attended to, monitored and patrolled accordingly.

Prior triathlon/race experience is strongly encouraged.

You will also be required to bring your own bike in order to get around the bike course easily.

Run Course Marshall

As the Run Course Marshall, you will be assisting the Run Course Director in the smooth operation and maintenance of the run course during the race to ensure the safety of the athletes. This position will work closely with the Run Course Director to ensure that all areas that need directional pointers are covered on race day, as well as that “pinch point” areas are attended to, monitored and patrolled accordingly.

Prior triathlon/race experience is strongly encouraged.

You will also be required to bring your own bike in order to get around the run course easily.

Run Course Aid Stations

We are looking for outgoing and cheerful volunteers for the run course aid stations. You will be handing out water and sports drinks to the athletes.

This is the third and last part of the race for our athletes, and aside from water and sports drinks, encouraging words and loud cheering from the volunteers is the best motivation to keep them going and make that final push to the finish line.

Prior triathlon knowledge is not required.

Finish Line Area & Festival

This year, we are expecting more than 1,800 athletes to cross the finish line on the Sunday of race weekend. Tasks in the Finish Line Area include handing out finisher medals and water to the athletes, assisting the team coordinating athlete food in the Athletes-Only area (basic food preparation; handing out, placing and replenishing food and drinks as needed), directing athletes as needed within the Athletes-Only area and ensuring a smooth and quick turnaround in this area, assisting with the awards ceremonies and other tasks as they may come up.

We encourage you to be flexible to take on any task at hand, be outgoing and friendly.

Prior triathlon knowledge is not required.
